# Registry Help Center

The [Equitable Earth Registry](https://registry.eq-earth.com/) is where Equitable Carbon Units (ECUs) issued under the Equitable Earth Standard are held, transferred and retired. Every ECU has a unique serial number, so it can be tracked from issuance to retirement and never counted twice. This help center explains how to use the Registry, step by step.

## Where to start

* **New to the Registry?** [Register a New Account](/registry/your-account/register-a-new-account.md), then [invite your colleagues](/registry/your-account/invite-a-user.md).
* **Can't sign in?** [Reset a Forgotten Password](/registry/your-account/reset-a-forgotten-password.md).
* **Moving units?** Read [Before You Transfer: Batches and Conversion](/registry/transfers/before-you-transfer-batches-and-conversion.md), then [Transfer Units to Another Account Holder](/registry/transfers/transfer-units-to-another-account-holder.md).
* **Retiring ECUs?** [Create a Beneficial Owner](/registry/retirements/create-a-beneficial-owner.md), then [Retire ECUs](/registry/retirements/retire-ecus.md).
* **Unsure about a term?** Check the [Glossary](/registry/glossary.md).

## Rules and policies

The Registry operates under the Equitable Earth Programme. The documents most relevant to Registry users are:

* [Registry Procedures](https://docs.eq-earth.com/registry-procedures-v1.3.pdf): how the Registry is run, and the rules for issuance, transfers, retirements and cancellations.
* [Terms and Conditions](https://www.eq-earth.com/terms-and-conditions) of the Registry.
* [Anti-Fraud Policy](https://docs.eq-earth.com/anti-fraud-policy.pdf): the KYC checks applied to account holders.
* [Avoiding Double Claiming Procedure](https://docs.eq-earth.com/avoiding-double-claiming-v1.3.pdf): rules for CORSIA and Article 6 uses.
* [Terms & Definitions](https://docs.eq-earth.com/terms-definitions-v1.3.2.pdf): official definitions of all Programme terms.

All Programme documents are available on the [Equitable Earth website](https://www.eq-earth.com/programme/programme-1-3).

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://help.eq-earth.com/registry/welcome.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
